Bhubaneswar: High School Certificate (HSC) results will be declared in the first or second week of May, revealed Board of Secondary Education (BSE) President Srikant Tarai today.

According to BSE President Srikant Tarai, the valuation process is being carried out without any errors or disputes and is scheduled to be completed today. As of now, answer sheet evaluation has been fully completed in four districts. Once the results are declared in the first or second week of May, students will receive their mark sheets and certificates immediately. Students who fail in any subject will get an opportunity to appear for the supplementary examination.

It may be mentioned that the HSC examinations were held from February 19 to March 2, while the Madhyama and Open School examinations were also conducted during the same period. Ensuring a disciplined and copy-free examination was a major focus this year. Special squads were formed by the School and Mass Education Department, which conducted surprise visits to examination centres. All centres were placed under strict CCTV surveillance with live monitoring from a central control room. Live streaming was arranged from 1,364 examination centres. In Maoist-affected areas, nodal centres were set up at 22 police stations.   Evaluation of the answer sheets began on March 19. A total of 51 evaluation centres were established across the state, engaging around 15,000 examiners. To maintain transparency, CCTV cameras were installed at all evaluation centres and mobile phones were banned inside the premises.

This year, 9,930 students did not appear for the examination. While 5,46,876 students had filled up the forms, 5,36,946 actually took the examination. The absentee rate stood at 1.81 per cent.
