Bhubaneswar: Sonepur and Sundargarh were the hottest places in Odisha today as both recorded a maximum day temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius.
Ten places in the State recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or more.
Four out of these recorded maximum temperatures of 42 degrees or more.
The places that recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees or more are Angul (40.1), Jharsuguda (40.8), Sambalpur (40.8), Sundargarh (42.5), Bhawanipatna (41.2), Bolangir (42.2), Titilagarh (42.2), Bargarh (41.0), Nuapada (41.0), and Sonepur (42.5).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperatures of 36.8 and 35.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
The seaside town of Gopalpur was the coolest place in the State recording a maximum temperature of 30.4 degrees Celsius followed by Puri with 31.6 and Paradip with 32.7.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next 2 days and maximum temperature is again likely to gradually rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in subsequent 3 days over the districts in the State.
