Bhubaneswar: Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday warned ineligible PDS beneficiaries to surrender their ration cards or face stern actions.
Emphasisng that the Odisha government keen to get rid of corruption in the various welfare schemes, Patra said that the process to identify bogus beneficiaries in underway.
He acknowledged that many taxpayers and well-off families in Odisha are availing the benefits of PDS for several years and this has to be stopped.
“If the ineligible beneficiaries do not surrender their ration cards immediately, we will initiate strict action against them,” the minister warned.
The minister appealed to all ineligible beneficiaries to surrender their ration cards voluntarily before stringent action is initiated against them.
