Bhubaneswar: At least 7.69 percent voting has been recorded till 9 AM today in the final phase elections to 42 Assembly and six Lok Sabha seats in Odisha.
According to the data of the Election Commission, maximum voting of 8.54% has been reported in Jagatsinghpur by 9 am. Similarly, 7.46% polling has been recorded in Balasore, 7.79% in Bhadrak, 7.74% in Jajpur, 7.27% in Kendrapara and 7.33% in Mayurbhanj, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal said at a press meet.
Polling began at 7 AM in the morning and will continue till 6 PM in the evening amid tight security.
Around 1 crore voters will exercise their franchise today in the fourth phase of voting in the State. Out of the total voters, about 51 lakh voters are men while about 49 lakh are women and around 700 are third genders. Voting was underway at 10,882 booths out of which 1400 stations are Sakhi booths.
Elections are held at six Lok Sabha seats- Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur and 42 Assembly segments today.
CEO Dhal said that adequate arrangements have been made for voters’ convenience at all booths in view of prevailing hot and humid conditions.
