Bhubaneswar: Pottangi police today conducted a flag march in Kotia panchayat in Koraput district.
The flag march was aimed at strengthening the confidence level of the people against repeated infiltration by neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, reports said.
In addition to that police have maintained a strict vigil on sensitive booths in view of the upcoming panchayat polls.
Kotia panchayat has 13 Wards.
The three main political parties-BJD, BJP, and Congress have unanimously fielded Mamta Jani as the all-party candidate for the Zilla Parishad Zone member post. One Tikai Gemel is contesting as an independent candidate against Jani.
Similarly, seven candidates are contesting for the post of sarpanch and 14 candidates are contesting for 13 Ward Member posts.
While in 12 Wards candidates have been elected uncontested, two candidates are contesting in Ward No 10.
Polling is scheduled for February 18.
