Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has launched a massive ‘Operation Anweshan’ campaign to trace and rescue missing and trafficked Odia children from other states, with the drive scheduled to continue from August 28 to September 8.
As part of the campaign, 17 teams from Odisha will visit 17 states identified as major destination states where missing Odia children are generally found. Two teams have been constituted under each police range for the operation.
Each team comprises five police personnel and a Legal-cum-Probation Officer from the Women and Child Development Department. Besides tracing and rescuing missing children, the teams will also take steps to facilitate the reintegration of Odia children staying in Child Care Institutes in other states with their families.
The Range IGPs/DIGPs and the Additional Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, will coordinate the activities of the teams in their respective destination states. The entire operation will be conducted under the overall guidance of the Additional Director General of Police, Crime Against Women and Children Wing, Odisha.
Odisha Police said it remains committed to child protection and will make all possible efforts to trace missing children from other states during the special drive.
