Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has won the “NCRB’s Running Trophy for Empowering Police with Information Technology”. The State police will receive the award at All India Police Duty Meet 2023, for the flagship SR Management System, to be held in Bhopal on February 17.

“A commendable effort by entire SCRB Team reflecting the unwavering spirit and hard work,” a senior police official said.

The All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM) is an annual event organized by the Indian police forces to promote and improve the physical fitness and professional skills of its personnel. The event comprises various competitions, including physical training, weapon handling, and tactical exercises, among others.

The AIPDM provides a platform for the police officers to showcase their proficiency and expertise, and to learn from their peers. The event also helps to foster camaraderie and esprit de corps among the police forces.

The AIPDM is usually attended by top-ranking police officers, including the Director-General of Police and other senior officials from various states and union territories. The event is an important aspect of the Indian police forces’ efforts to enhance their capabilities and to provide better service to the citizens of India.

The SR Module is a comprehensive and integrated application platform for SR case supervision in real time basis on online mode, which will also help in efficient investigation, prevention and prediction of crime through efficient utilisation of available data in the police system. It Provides enhanced Tools for Investigation & Crime Prevention, Sharing of Data on Real time Basis improved service delivery to the public / citizen, increase Operational Efficiency, improving e-policing management of serious crime for citizen’s welfare.

“Supervision and investigation of the increase in the volume of serious crime is a cause of concern for police officers. Manual supervision of these cases is not only a time consuming process but also there is the hurdle of duplication of efforts in routine day-to-day work,” the senior cop stated.

“Heinous offenses cases are categorized in Odisha as special report cases in which the Crime Branch is required to monitor the investigation This monitoring is done through the periodic report submitted by the district SsP. manually to the higher office. As a result, there is a delay in the issue of direction by senior formation due to hard file movement. Hence, this online e-Policing module has been developed with the objective to eliminate all these difficulties and ensure effective and timely monitoring of heinous cases,” he added.
