Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown against cybercrime, Odisha Police verified 73 mule bank accounts and arrested six accused persons during coordinated operations across multiple districts under the ongoing statewide drive ‘Operation Cyber Kavach’, on Sunday (February 15, 2026).

As part of the intelligence-led initiative, dedicated district cyber teams carried out verification drives and enforcement actions under the supervision of respective SPs and DCPs, with real-time coordination from cyber units.

According to officials, Boudh district verified 45 mule bank accounts and registered one new cybercrime case, serving notices to 45 persons. Malkangiri district verified 20 mule bank accounts and registered one new case. Sundargarh district verified two accounts, linked two cases with existing FIRs, and arrested six accused persons. UPD Cuttack verified six mule accounts and registered one new cybercrime case, issuing notices to six individuals.

In total, Odisha Police registered three new cybercrime cases, worked on two linked cases with existing FIRs, and served 51 legal notices to suspected facilitators and account holders.

Police officials stated that the action is part of a disruption-oriented strategy aimed at dismantling mule banking networks and breaking the financial backbone of organised cyber fraud syndicates. Operation Cyber Kavach continues to focus on identifying facilitators, neutralising fraudulent accounts, and preventing the misuse of banking and telecom resources for cybercrime.

Daily monitoring and reporting mechanisms are in place to ensure operational synchronisation and sustained enforcement, authorities added. The police reiterated their commitment to intelligence-driven and coordinated action to protect citizens and strengthen the digital security ecosystem in the state.
