Bhubaneswar: The Primary School Teachers under the banner of United Primary Teachers’ Federation have called their protest off.
However, the federation has announced noncooperation in several government functions. After the local Police denied them permission to hold protest in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, the steering committee of the Federation assembled at the Exhibition Ground and decided to call off the protest.
They have decided not to extend cooperation in several government works until their demands are met. They will also boycott the dress code till the Government reimburses the uniform cost.
They alleged that they have been managing the mid-day meals in the school by themselves despite not receiving any money for the same of the past six months.
“We tried to cooperate with the government during difficult times such as Covid. But not anymore. If the government does not pay heed to our demands, we will stop cooperating,” they said.
Around 1.5 lakh teachers from across the State had planned to stage a dharna at Lower PMG here today. However, the Commissionerate of Police denied them permission.
