Bhubaneswar: Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Tuesday conducted a high-level review of projects being implemented under the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana (MSBY) across urban areas of Odisha.
The review meeting, held at Kharavela Bhavan, was attended by Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department Usha Padhee, Director of Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua, and other senior officials. All Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
During the review, it was informed that against an allocation of ₹1,200 crore for the current financial year, a total of 6,700 projects have been approved so far, with ₹796 crore already sanctioned.
Emphasising timely execution, Mahapatra directed ULBs to expedite implementation and ensure completion of all approved projects within the stipulated timelines. He asserted that there would be zero tolerance for delays and stressed that quality of construction must not be compromised under any circumstances.
The Minister said the MSBY aims to fulfil the aspirations of urban residents and transform the urban landscape of the state. He noted that all projects proposed by ULBs have received government approval along with financial support, and instructed local bodies to swiftly move from the approval stage to on-ground execution.
Mahapatra also emphasised strict adherence to standard designs and improved construction practices to ensure long-term durability and quality of assets created under the scheme.
Principal Secretary Usha Padhee underscored the importance of coordinated teamwork and advance planning for visible urban progress. She advised ULBs to take up projects proactively so that the entire sanctioned funds are fully utilised within the current financial year.
Reiterating its commitment to planned, time-bound and quality-driven urban development, the State Government said the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana will continue to play a key role in delivering tangible benefits to citizens across urban Odisha.
