Odisha Set To Implement PM-USHA Program In 2025-26

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, Odisha Higher Education Department and the Union Ministry of Education signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today at Krishi Bhavan to implement the PM-USHA program in the State. The program will be rolled out during the 2025-26 academic year.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hailed the initiative as a success of the “double-engine government” and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership. He emphasized that education should transcend political boundaries and expressed commitment to successfully implementing the program, which aims to build a better future for students.

The PM-USHA program is expected to bring significant changes to the state’s education landscape, including new infrastructure development, human resource development, skill development, research, and vocational education. Chief Minister Majhi also announced plans to grant autonomy to universities, as promised during the elections, and highlighted the opening of 18 new government colleges in remote areas.

Additionally, the state government is taking steps to establish 26 language laboratories to preserve and promote Odisha’s tribal languages.

He said that our government is taking all steps to implement the National Education Policy 2020 under the guidance of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Majhi said that the five pillars of the National Education Policy 2020 will be improved in the PM-USHA programme
