Bhubaneswar: The state-level steering committee on AgriStack convened on Thursday at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, reviewing Odisha’s progress in implementing India’s integrated digital agricultural information platform.
AgriStack aims to unify farmer data—including land records, crop details, and GPS-based village maps—into a single digital system to ensure accurate, targeted delivery of services to farmers.
Senior officials from both the Centre and the State took part in the meeting. Rajeev Chawla, Chief Consultant Advisor to the Government of India, and Dr. Pramod Kumar Meherda, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, joined virtually. Odisha Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Agriculture Director Shubham Saxena, Cooperation Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, and other committee members attended in person.
The meeting conducted a comparative review of digital crop surveys for Kharif and Rabi seasons in 2024 and 2025. Major Kharif crops such as paddy, cotton, maize, ragi, and cashew, and Rabi crops including moong, biri, groundnut, and paddy were covered under the survey. According to the 2025 assessment, Bargarh and Jharsuguda districts emerged as the top performers in Kharif land survey implementation, contributing to an impressive 94% survey completion rate statewide.
Officials highlighted that significant improvements have been made in survey methodology this year, aided by close monitoring from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics. The state has also taken disciplinary action against surveyors, supervisors, and vendors found negligent in executing the digital crop survey. Robust data security protocols have been introduced to safeguard information collected through AgriStack.
The Government of India lauded Odisha’s performance, noting that the state’s digital survey system has set a benchmark nationally. Rajeev Chawla praised the Odisha team for achieving 96.67% survey accuracy, the highest in the country, with the lowest national error rate of just 3.33%.
Farmer registration progress was also reviewed, with Jharsuguda district identified as the best-performing district in this category.
Officials stated that Odisha’s achievements not only demonstrate strong digital governance but also position the state as a model for AgriStack implementation across India.
