Bhubaneswar: A youth was trampled to death by a tusker at Bhadusole village under the Rasgovindpur Range of the Baripada Forest Division in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Raghu Marandi.
According to reports, Marandi had gone behind his house at night when he was attacked by the elephant, suffering critical injuries. His family, noticing he had not returned, searched for him the next morning and found his body in the backyard.
Forest Department personnel reached the spot after being informed and confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
