Bhubaneswar: A severe cold wave has gripped Odisha, with 15 cities recording temperatures below 10°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

G. Udayagiri was the coldest place in the state in the last 24 hours, with a temperature of 3.6°C, followed by Semiliguda (5.2°C), Phulbani (5.5°C), Daringbadi (6°C), Koraput (6.4°C), and Jharsuguda (6.5°C).

Other places also experienced cold temperatures include Rourkela (7°C), Angul (8°C), Nabarangapur (8.6°C), Kirei (8.7°C), Bhawanipatna (9°C), Balangir (9.4°C), Sundargarh (9.5°C), and Sonepur and Keonjhar (9.8°C).

The cold wave has disrupted early morning visibility due to dense fog, especially in the southern and western districts.

Meanwhile, the regional weather office has predicted the cold conditions likely to persist until early January, with a slight rise in temperatures possible from January 1 onwards.
