Bhubaneswar: Odisha reeled under simmering heat as the maximum temperature at 21 places in the State including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack breached the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
The industrial town of Angul was the hottest place recording a maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius.
According to India Meteorological Department, the other places in the State that recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius and above are Cuttack (40.5), Bhubaneswar (40.2), Baripada (42), Jharsuguda (41.8), Keonjhar (41.0), Sambalpur (41.3), Sundargarh (42.0), Hirakud (40.7), Bhawanipatna (41.0), Bolangir (43.2), Titilagarh (41.7), Sonepur (41.6), Nayagarh (40.5), Boudh (42.0), Bhadrak (40.0), Jajpur (40.0), Dhenkanal (42.0), Deogarh (40.0), Nuapada (40.0), and Kendrapara (40.5).
The seaside town of Gopalpur was the coolest with 30.5 degrees Celsius followed by Paradip and Puri with 32 degrees Celsius each.
The weatherman has further predicted that there will be no large change in maximum temperature during the next 4-5 days over the districts of Odisha.
