SIR Exercise

Bhubaneswar: The statewide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Odisha has entered its final phase, with only six days remaining before the June 28 deadline for completion of the exercise.

To ensure the remaining work is completed within the stipulated timeframe, authorities have intensified activities across all districts. According to official data, enumeration forms have been distributed to 99.86 per cent of voters in the state so far. In absolute terms, forms have been delivered to 3,33,51,967 electors.

Officials said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are maintaining continuous contact with the remaining voters to achieve 100 per cent distribution and are continuing the form collection process.

Digitization has been accorded top priority in the revision exercise to ensure accuracy, transparency and speedy processing of voter data. As of Monday, 86.12 per cent of the collected forms had been digitized, covering 2,87,63,417 voters. The digitization of the remaining forms is being carried out on a war footing, officials said.

The data gathered through the Special Intensive Revision will be used to prepare a more transparent, accurate and updated electoral roll for the state. District administrations, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Booth Level Officers have been directed to ensure 100 per cent form collection and digitization within the remaining six days.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, has appealed to voters who have not yet submitted their enumeration forms to do so at the earliest. Voters can either hand over the forms to their respective Booth Level Officers or submit them online through ECINET before June 28.

The CEO said timely submission of forms would help in preparing an accurate and error-free electoral roll for the state.
