Bhubaneswar: Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions prevailed at several places in Odisha with mercury soaring 40°C or more at as many as 32 places on Friday.
According to the evening bulletin released by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) regional centre here, Angul with a maximum day temperature of 44.6°C was the hottest place in the State followed by Boudh at 44.5°C and Nuapada and Bolangir at 44°C.
Mercury crossed 43°C at 12 places.
The IMD has predicted that maximum day temperature is likely to rise by 2°C within the next 48 hours. Under its impact heatwave to severe heatwave conditions is likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha during the next 5 days, IMD has warned.
