Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Sports Department issued a show-cause notice to the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) over the floodlight failure during the India-England ODI match at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
As per reports, the match was interrupted for about 30 minutes during India’s innings due to a floodlight failure. The incident inconvenienced the players, and the crowd was disappointed.
The Sports Department has meanwhile sought an explanation from the OCA regarding the incident, asking why such a major lapse occurred despite adequate preparations. The department has given the OCA 10 days to respond to the notice.
The incident has raised questions about the preparedness of the OCA in hosting international matches. The Barabati Stadium has hosted several international matches in the past, but this incident has brought embarrassment to the state’s cricket association.
