Bhubaneswar: The first phase of the Census in Odisha begins with self-enumeration available from April 1 to April 15 midnight 2026 through the official Self Enumeration Portal at https://se.census.gov.in.
During this period people can voluntarily submit their household data online at their convenience. From April 16 to May 15 trained enumerators and supervisors will visit every household door to door across all districts of Odisha to collect and verify the information.
This marks the first time self-enumeration has been introduced in the Census of India. Chief Secretary Anu Garg has already completed her self-enumeration on the portal and has appealed to the people of Odisha to cooperate in this national programme by providing accurate data.
She has also conveyed her best wishes on this occasion. The programme launch was attended by Director of Census Operations Nikhil Pawan Kalyan along with Joint Directors Hemant Kumar Singh and Haradhan Karmi Assistant Director Umakant Sahu and Deputy Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Priyadarshini Jena.
If you are in Odisha it is recommended to use the self-enumeration option early for greater convenience. The process is straightforward secure and available in multiple languages including Odia. Once you complete it you will receive a unique Self Enumeration ID which you can share with the enumerator during the door-to-door visit.
