Kataka: The Odisha T20 League-CM Trophy will begin at the iconic Barabati Stadium here on September 20, with six franchises set to compete in the 10-day tournament, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) said.
The tournament will continue till September 29 and feature 17 matches involving Bhubaneswar Tigers, Puri Titans, Keonjhar Miners, Rourkela Superstars, Sambalpur Warriors and Kataka Panthers.
OCA President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty said the league would provide Odisha’s cricketers, particularly youngsters, with an important platform to play competitive T20 cricket, handle pressure situations and gain valuable match experience.
“The league is an important platform for Odisha cricket as it gives our players the opportunity to play competitive T20 cricket, perform under pressure and gain valuable experience,” Mohanty said.
OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera said the tournament was aimed at creating a pathway for the next generation of cricketers in the state by allowing young players to compete alongside experienced campaigners and prepare for higher levels of the game.
The tournament will also feature a women’s exhibition match on the final day, giving women cricketers an opportunity to showcase their talent at the Barabati Stadium.
With six teams competing for the title, the league is expected to provide emerging players with exposure before a home crowd and further strengthen Odisha’s cricketing ecosystem, the organisers said.
