Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday said the state is leveraging artificial intelligence and digital technology to make governance more citizen-centric and efficient.
Speaking at the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting in New Delhi, Majhi said platforms like ‘Ama Sathi’ allow citizens to access government services through a multilingual, voice-enabled interface.
“We are also exploring AI for grievance redressal, service delivery, agriculture, healthcare, education and disaster management to enable data-driven decision-making and improve outcomes. At the same time, we remain committed to ensuring responsible and ethical use of AI with appropriate safeguards for privacy, security and accountability,” he said.
In line with the National AI Mission, Odisha will use AI to deliver child-specific education, track milestones, and personalise care for every child, the Chief Minister added.
To prepare youth for emerging trades, AI labs under the India AI Mission are being set up in 13 government-run ITIs. The state is also deepening industry-academia partnerships to align education and skilling with market needs in manufacturing, services, and emerging technologies. This includes expanding apprenticeships, internships, and embedding industry-relevant curricula across institutions.
On the meeting’s theme, ‘Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat’, Majhi said development requires empowered citizens, skilled youth, healthy families and inclusive opportunities, not just infrastructure.
He also appreciated the Prime Minister’s measures to safeguard energy security amid the West Asia crisis. “Strategic diversification of energy sources, promotion of alternative fuels and EVs, and prudent management of domestic energy supplies have significantly strengthened India’s resilience against external shocks,” Majhi said.
Highlighting Odisha’s growth, he said the state recorded 7.9 per cent economic growth in 2025-26 while keeping fiscal deficit and debt within limits. Odisha ranked No. 1 in NITI Aayog’s Fiscal Health Index 2026.
The state adopted the NEP-2020 framework in 2024 and has prioritised experiential learning by engaging 1.5 lakh students in internships across private, public, and community sectors. On sports, Majhi said Odisha is developing 314 block-level stadiums with multi-sport facilities, making it the first state to ensure such grassroots infrastructure in every block.
For tourism, the state is developing the Puri-Konark corridor as a globally competitive hub to generate employment, promote entrepreneurship, and strengthen cultural heritage.
“Under your visionary leadership, we are confident that the collective aspiration of a Viksit Bharat will be realised, with Odisha proudly standing at the forefront as a strong pillar of India’s growth, progress, and prosperity,” Majhi told the Prime Minister.
