Koraput: The Odisha government will approach the Supreme Court again over the long-standing Kotia territorial dispute with Andhra Pradesh, alleging violation of the apex court’s earlier status quo order, Fabi Rasheed, Koraput Sub-Collector-cum-Nodal Officer for Kotia, said on Wednesday.
Rasheed said the state government would pursue contempt of court proceedings against activities by Andhra Pradesh that allegedly violate the court’s status quo order.
She said she would visit Kotia on Wednesday and Thursday would apprise residents of the Odisha government’s development programmes and ongoing works in the region, besides hearing their grievances and assessing the problems faced by the people.
The administration is taking all necessary steps to safeguard Odisha’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, she said, adding that the legal battle would be intensified against alleged violations of the status quo order.
The border dispute has resurfaced after Andhra Pradesh announced panchayat elections in the disputed Kotia region, scheduled to begin on November 26, 2026.
