Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will organise a roadshow in New Delhi in August to showcase investment opportunities in the food processing sector and attract more industries to the state, Industries and Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said on Saturday.
The minister said the state government is focusing on bringing employment-oriented industries and promoting sectors with high growth potential. As part of its investment outreach programme, the government will hold discussions with industrialists and investors in New Delhi to encourage greater participation in Odisha’s food processing sector.
“Odisha has emerged as a key investment destination. Over the last two years, the state has attracted investments from various sectors, including textiles, renewable energy, chemicals and petrochemicals, and new-age industries. We are now focusing on attracting more investments in the food processing sector,” Swain said while speaking to the media.
He said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will interact with industrialists during the New Delhi roadshow and discuss investment opportunities in the state.
The minister highlighted that the government is giving priority to industries that can generate large-scale employment and sectors that are yet to establish a strong presence in Odisha.
“Our priority is to bring industries with high employment potential and attract sectors that are currently not present in Odisha. The government has been working towards this objective over the last two years,” he said.
Swain also highlighted Odisha’s success in attracting investors, stating that the state has emerged as one of the leading destinations for investment. He added that the government has achieved significant milestones through record numbers of groundbreaking ceremonies and project inaugurations over the past two years.
The minister said the state’s industrial growth initiatives are aligned with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision of building a ‘Samruddha Odisha, Viksit Odisha’.
“Along with industrial development, the government is also focusing on skill development so that the youth of Odisha can benefit from the employment opportunities generated through new investments,” Swain added.
