Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s school curriculum is set for a major overhaul, with the state government planning to replace all textbooks from Class 1 to Class 12.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Assembly on Friday that preparations are underway to introduce a completely revised syllabus across schools under the department.
Responding to a question from BJD MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain, the minister said the government has drawn up a plan to update and redesign textbooks covering the entire school spectrum. However, he clarified that the changes will not come into effect immediately.
Gond stated that the curriculum revision process is currently in progress and will be implemented in phases once the new content is finalised. The initiative aims to modernise classroom learning, ensure timely reforms in the education system, and offer students improved-quality academic material.
Once rolled out, the new curriculum will impact every student—from primary classes to higher secondary—ensuring that learners across Odisha study from refreshed and upgraded textbooks.
