Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will establish digital road safety education centres at five Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) to promote responsible driving practices and enhance road safety awareness among licence applicants and other road users.
The initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha, and BharatCares. Under the programme, Tab-Lab Centres will be set up at RTOs in Bhubaneswar, Kataka, Puri, Kendujhar and Anugola. The STA shared these details in a post on its official X account on Friday.
The proposed centres will provide structured, tablet-based road safety education to applicants seeking Learner’s Licences (LL) and Driving Licences (DL), candidates appearing for driving tests, and other road users.
The learning programme will feature interactive educational content, videos, assessments and counselling sessions to familiarise participants with traffic rules, road safety practices and responsible road behaviour.
In addition to establishing centres at the five RTOs, the STA has also planned a pilot road safety awareness programme in 30 educational institutions across Bhubaneswar.
The school-based initiative aims to extend road safety education beyond driving licence applicants and sensitise students to safe road practices from an early age.
