Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police on Sunday arrested three persons in connection with the theft of over Rs 1.10 crore from a businessman’s residence in the national capital. One of the accused was arrested from Balasore district in Odisha, while the other two were arrested from Delhi and Patna, respectively.

The arrested persons have been identified as Kashinath Mallick (30), Ashutosh Mallick (27), and Jagabandhu Mallick (30).

According to reports, all three were employed at the businessman’s residence—Kashinath as a cook, and the other two as domestic help.

Based on intelligence inputs, a joint team of Delhi and Odisha Police arrested Kashinath from Bhimei Gaon under the Iswarpur police outpost in the Nilagiri area of Balasore. Police recovered Rs 20 lakh in cash from his possession.

Investigations revealed that the trio had allegedly conspired to steal Rs 1.10 crore from the businessman’s home and had fled Delhi after executing the plan. Kashinath is believed to be the mastermind behind the crime.

While Kashinath was arrested from his native village, Ashutosh was arrested at Delhi Railway Station, and Jagabandhu was taken into custody at the Patna Bus Stand. So far, police have recovered a total of Rs 45 lakh of the stolen amount.

Further investigation is underway to trace the remaining cash and determine whether any additional persons were involved in the heist.
