Odisha Turns Boiling Cauldron As Mercury Crosses 40°C Mark In 18 Places

Bhubaneswar: The severe heat wave continued to grip Odisha on Tuesday, with as many as 18 locations recording temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.

Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest place in the state, registering a scorching 44.8°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).Several other districts also experienced extreme discomfort as temperatures soared dangerously high.

Hirakud recorded 44.0°C, followed by Sambalpur and Angul at 43.6°C each. Boudh, Talcher, and Sonepur all touched 43.0°C, while Titlagarh stood at 42.6°C.

Bolangir recorded 42.3°C, Nayagarh 42.2°C, and Sundergarh 41.9°C.Other places that crossed the 40-degree mark included Bhavanipatna at 41.8°C, Bargarh at 41.5°C, Bhadrak at 41.0°C, Bhubaneswar at 40.2°C, Rourkela at 40.1°C, and both Parlakhemundi and Nuapada at 40.0°C.

The persistent heat wave has raised concerns among residents and authorities, with meteorologists warning of continued high temperatures in the coming days. People have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
