Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the high percentage of students who were successful in the Odisha Matriculation exams 2023, the School and Mass Education Department of the Government of Odisha has decided to upgrade schools in various districts of the state to increase the number of Plus II seats.
The department has published an official notification in this regard. As per the notification, Class XI will be opened in 106 higher secondary schools in the state in the academic year 2023-24. Out of these, 100 schools will teach arts and six will teach science.
The department has also published a list of educational institutions that have been upgraded to higher secondary schools in various districts.
Soon after the results were published on May 20, former School and Mass Education Minister Pramila Mallik told the media that the Odisha government was contemplating increasing the number of Plus II seats if the need arises.
The need to increase the number of Plus II seats was felt due to the fact that as many as 96.4 per cent of students have passed Matriculation exams 2023 in Odisha.
The minister further stated that necessary measures will be taken so that no student suffers.
