Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) today announced that elaborate arrangements have been made for counting of votes for General Election to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)-2022 which will be held tomorrow.
Addressing a presser here today, Secretary to SEC Rabindranath Sahu informed that counting of votes will begin at 8 AM tomorrow (March 26) and continue till all votes are counted.
Sharing details of the arrangements made for counting of votes, Sahu stated that in each NAC there will be two tables each for counting of votes for councillor and chairperson.
In the case of municipalities, there will be a maximum of five tables each for counting of votes for councillor and chairperson, he added.
Further, in the case of a municipal corporation, there will be 12 tables for counting of votes for councillor and another 12 tables for counting of votes for mayor, Sahu said.
The SEC Secretary informed that each counting table will have one counting supervisor, one counting assistant and assist them and carry EVMs there will be one Group D employee.
Sahu informed that counting of votes will be conducted simultaneously for councillor and mayor.
He said that the entire counting process will be recorded on CCTV cameras and in case there is any problem arrangements have been made for videography.
He said that votes of polling personnel, who exercised their franchise through election duty certificate, will be counted first and subsequently the counting of votes in EVM will begin.
Sahu informed that results will be declared ward-wise and for chairperson/mayor posts the lead will be announced after each round, he added.
The SEC Secretary informed that for tomorrow adequate police arrangements have been put in place.
“There will be two cordon police outside the counting hall and there will be another layer of security where candidates and their agents will be entering,” he added.
