Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested Laxmi Narayan Nath, a junior clerk in the office of the Additional Sub-Collector, Settlement, Balasore, while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a complainant for giving a certified copy of Yadas Sabak record before the settlement of his paternal land which is recorded in his father’s name.
Nath had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant to furnish the said certified copy. The accused was arrested today while accepting a bribe 4,000. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused and seized.
Following the trap to nab Nath red-handed, Vigilance staff launched simultaneous searches at three locations linked to the accused in the Balasore district from a disproportionate asset (DA) angle.
A case has been registered in this connection at the Balasore Vigilance police station under Section 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Investigation into the case is in progress and further details are awaited.
