Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Friday, intercepted Pabitra Mohan Panigrahi, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Chitrakonda block in Malkangiri district, near Gobindapally Chowk and seized ₹5.07 lakh in cash from his possession.
According to an official press release, the action followed reliable information about Panigrahi allegedly collecting a substantial bribe from contractors.
Vigilance officials stopped him near Gobindapally Chowk in Malkangiri while he was traveling from his government residential quarters in Chitrakonda to Bhubaneswar in a WagonR car (registration OD-30-E-3096), in which he was a passenger.
During the interception, authorities recovered ₹5.07 lakh in cash from Panigrahi, which he could not satisfactorily account for, leading to its seizure.
Following the interception, Vigilance officials initiated searches at two locations linked to Panigrahi to investigate potential disproportionate assets (DA). He is currently under examination to determine the source of the funds.
