Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths today recovered a huge amount of cash from the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Golamunda Block in Kalahandi district. The BDO identified as Akhyamita Kartik, OAS, allegedly collected a huge bribe amount as PC.
Acting on a reliable input, vigilance sleuths intercepted her near Jaring between Bhawanipatna and Junagarh while she was proceeding towards Koraput. The anti-graft officials recovered Rs 5 lakh cash from her possession and seized them.
She is being interrogated to ascertain the source of the huge amount of cash. Searches have been launched at her locations in Koraput and Kalahandi, vigilance said.
Earlier, she was suspended for misappropriation of COVID funds while she was posted at Kosagumuda in Nabarangpur district.
Similarly, Rayagada district administration had filed police complaint against her for misappropriation of Red Cross funds while she was working as Tehsildar in Gunupur.
