Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance Department has created history by investigating a record 125 cases between April 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, as revealed in a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. This is the highest number of cases ordered for investigation in the last 20 years, taking the total cases cracked in 2025 to 488.
The meeting highlighted the department’s focus on disproportionate assets, with 173 cases, the highest among all categories. The Vigilance Department’s efforts have been praised nationwide, with the State Vigilance Academy receiving ISO 9001:2015 certification for its improved infrastructure and quality training.
In 2025, Vigilance conducted 487 raids, closed 1,199 corrupt bank accounts, and seized assets including 153 buildings, 18.3 kg gold, 417 plots, and 12 farmhouses. They also seized ₹36.69 crore in deposits and Rs 8.8 crore in cash.
Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the need to eradicate corruption, advising Vigilance to continue its campaign. The meeting discussed capacity building, recruitment, and filling vacancies, with the CM assuring a decision soon.
Key officials present included Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary Surendra Kumar, and Director of Vigilance Yashwant Kumar Jethwa.
