Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in most parts of the state, with nine districts likely to witness heavy downpours.
According to the forecast of the IMD, there is a possibility of rain in most parts of the state on Thursday. Nine districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure system has formed over the Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas, which is expected to move northwestwards towards Jharkhand.
The regional weather office has issued a Red Warning for Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts today. These districts are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated spells of extremely heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h.
The India Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Warning for several districts in Odisha, signalling likely very heavy rainfall in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, and Balasore districts. These areas are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h. Residents in these districts are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated with the latest weather forecast to ensure their safety.
Simultaneously, a Yellow Warning has been sounded for Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and Bhadrak, where heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected.
Several districts in Odisha are expected to experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds today. These districts include Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
