Bhawanipatna: In a bizarre incident, police in Kalahandi district have arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly attempting to extort ₹35 lakh from his own father by sending a fake Maoist threat letter.
The incident took place in the Rupra Road area under Narla police limits.
According to police sources, Ankush Agrawal, son of Dinesh Kumar Agrawal, had left a letter in his father’s car on October 5, posing as a Maoist group. The letter demanded ₹35 lakh and warned that the entire family would be killed if the money was not paid.
Alarmed by the letter, Dinesh Agrawal approached the police, fearing for his family’s safety. During investigation, the Narla police, led by IIC and investigating officer Vijay Majhi, found that the letter had actually been written by Ankush himself in an attempt to extract money from his father.
Following the revelation, the police arrested Ankush and produced him before court. Further investigation is underway
