Bhubaneswar: Anyone experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19 or flu-like illnesses should avoid public gatherings and self-isolate, urged Odisha’s Director of Health Services Dr. Amrendranath Mohanty.
The COVID-19 situation in Odisha remains stable and is not alarming, Dr. Mohanty said on Monday. Over the past few days, the number of new cases has been steadily declining.
“As per the latest available data, Odisha currently has only 45 active cases, and the overall positivity rate remains very low. Today’s report is yet to be received, but the trend is positive,” he added.
Regarding the new strain, Dr. Mohanty explained, “This variant is not very dangerous. Both its infectivity and virulence are minimal, and the severity of cases is low. There is no need for panic.”
He also noted that the Central Government has not issued any new COVID-specific instructions.
“General preventive measures such as regular handwashing, respiratory hygiene, and avoiding crowds if symptomatic continue to be recommended.”
Referring to the upcoming Rath Yatra, he said no special restrictions have been imposed so far but advised caution.
“People showing symptoms related to COVID-19 or flu should maintain preventive measures and avoid attending large gatherings,” Dr. Mohanty said.
