Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu honoured Lieutenant General (Dr) Sarat Chandra Dash, with the prestigious Ati Vishisht Seva Medal on Friday. This esteemed award is a testament to Lieutenant General Dash’s exceptional service and dedication to the nation.
Dash, a SCB Medical College alumnus, held an MCh in Urology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Additionally, he has received specialized training in robotic urology surgery from the United States.
Prior to his recent retirement, Dash, a resident of Nayagarh, served as the Deputy Chief Integrated Defence Staff, capping off a remarkable career marked by dedication and excellence.
Son of Lingaraj Dash and Basanta Manjari Devi, Dash has also been awarded with the Yudh Seva Medal (Kargil War) and Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India, adding feathers to his distinguished career.
It is pertinent to mention that the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal was instituted on 26 January 1960 by the President of India. The medal was initially awarded to recognize distinguished service of an exceptional order rendered by officers of the armed forces, including the reserve forces and the territorial army, as well as the nursing officers of the armed forces.
