Bhubaneswar: After Biju Janata Dal fielded Ollywood actress Varsha Priyadarshini from Barchana for the upcoming Assembly elections, the actress thanked BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on Saturday.
Varsha visited Cuttack Chandi temple soon after her name was declared for Barchana assembly constituency by the BJD president and offered prayers at the temple.
Following her visit, the actress said, “I am grateful to Sir (Naveen Patnaik). I would like to thank him for believing in me and trusting me. I will not let him down.”
On Saturday, BJD announced the sixth list of party candidates for the Assembly elections in Odisha. The ruling party, however, fielded the actress Varsha who had joined the regional party two days back and sidelined sitting MLA and strong leader Amar Prasad Satpathy.
Satpathy represented Barchana Assembly Constituency for three consecutive terms, according to sources.
