Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has set ambitious targets for the financial year 2025-26, aiming to produce 50 million tons of minerals and achieve Rs 30,000 crore in sales revenue. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a review meeting where he directed OMC to focus on improving livelihoods in mining areas through employment opportunities and the convergence of development schemes.

To achieve the production target, OMC plans to ramp up bauxite production from 3.6 million tons to 6 million tons next year. Measures to achieve this include lease extensions and fast-tracking environmental clearances. The CM also reviewed the progress of OMC’s proposed pellet plant, slated to begin operations by May 2026, with the Centre’s MECON preparing a Techno-Economic Feasibility Report for the project.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for OMC to enhance its operational efficiency by recruiting skilled professionals and focusing on sustainable mining practices. OMC has been playing a pivotal role in harnessing Odisha’s rich mineral resources, contributing significantly to the state’s economic development. With 18 active mines across Odisha, OMC has solidified its position among the top five mineral producers in India, achieving a remarkable turnover of Rs 23,600 crore in the fiscal year 2024-25.
