Bhubaneswar: In a horrific act of extreme brutality, a man allegedly chopped off the genitals of his 4-year-old stepson at Dabedi village under Daringbadi police limits in Kandhamal district. The accused is identified as the stepfather, Jikta Muthamajhi, who had married the child’s mother, Ramita Muthamajhi, after the death of her first husband.

On Thursday, Ramita left her young son, Ramit, at home while she went out to collect cow dung. Upon returning, she discovered the child bleeding profusely from a severe injury to his private parts. Despite the boy’s critical condition and heavy blood loss, the stepfather reportedly showed complete indifference, neither seeking medical help nor informing anyone about the assault.

In a desperate bid to save her son, the mother immediately rushed him to the Daringbadi Community Health Centre (CHC) for emergency treatment. Doctors attending to the child have described his condition as critical, citing the severity of the wounds and substantial blood loss.

Police have launched an investigation into the barbaric act, and the accused is absconding.
