Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) organized a one-of-its-kind Safety Conclave-2022 here on Friday wherein Safety Officers of different mines of the Corporation participated in ideation, knowledge sharing and deliberation on occupational safety initiatives.
Chairman of OMC DK Singh in presence of Balwant Singh, Managing Director, OMC and Functional Directors – addressed the delegates and stated that more concerted and sustained efforts in safety management will take OMC in line with International Standards.
Balwant Singh, MD, OMC, while addressing the delegates, said that in recent years there has been a cultural shift in Safety in OMC. In fact, the theme of last Financial Year at OMC was Safety with the tagline “Safety First – Avoid the Worst”. He also stated that the Company is leveraging technological interventions including Safety Management System, Fleet Management System, etc. to achieve Zero Harm.
Satyajit Mohanty, Director (Finance), Sabyasachi Mohanty, Director, Technical (Operations), Alok Kumar Pal, Director (Personnel), Kshirod Chandra Brahma, Director Technical (Project & Planning) were present on the occasion along with Director Mines Safety, Bhubaneswar and Deputy Director Mines Safety, Bhubaneswar, senior officials, Regional Managers and Mines Managers of OMC, Mine Operators, Mining Developer & Operators, Contractors, and other stakeholders.
The conclave acted as a forum for participants to interact with the safety professionals and thought leaders to learn the best practices. The participants deliberated on the latest developments and information on safety while offering ideas for general improvements in Safety in the mining sector.
Different papers like Safety and Incident Management, Equipment Safety, Application of IoT in Mining, OHSE Management, Electrical Safety, best practices in the mining sector, etc. were presented and deliberated at the conclave.
As part of the reward & recognition program, prizes were awarded to employees and partner agencies under various categories.
