Bhubaneswar: Consumers across Odisha will have to pay more for OMFED milk starting October 4, as the cooperative has revised the retail prices of its popular variants.
Toned milk will see the steepest increase of Rs 4 per litre, taking the price from Rs 54 to Rs 58. The 500-ml packet will cost Rs 2 more.
OMFED Premium milk will become costlier by Rs 2 per litre, rising from Rs 58 to Rs 60. The half-litre pack will go up by Rs 1.Gold Plus milk will also increase by Rs 2 per litre — from Rs 64 to Rs 66 — with the 500-ml packet becoming Rs 1 more expensive.
The price revision follows OMFED’s decision to raise the milk procurement rate paid to dairy farmers by Rs 2 per litre from September 11.
The cooperative had announced the hike to offer better returns to farmers in view of the sharp rise in production and transportation costs, particularly the increased prices of cattle feed and other essential inputs.
