Bhubaneswar: A bus driver with the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) died due to a cardiac arrest while on duty in Malkangiri district. However, he saved the lives of 25 passengers on board by safely pulling the moving bus to the roadside before succumbing to the attack.

The deceased has been identified as P Saikrishna, a resident of Malkangiri.

He was driving the bus plying from Vizianagaram to Malkangiri when he felt severe chest pain near Kunduli.  Despite his distress, he managed to pull the bus to the roadside, averting a potential disaster.

The conductor and additional driver quickly alerted the ambulance service. But due to the delay, Saikrishna was rushed to Koraput Medical College, where he was declared dead.

The passengers, however, were left unharmed due to Saikrishna’s presence of mind.
