Bhubaneswar: One person was killed and around 29 people sustained injuries in two separate road accidents in Odisha on Wednesday night and on Thursday.
In the first mishap, one person died and 19 others of a marriage party sustained varying degrees of injuries after the pickup van they were travelling by overturned at Kalinjipalli village under Khallikote police station limits in Ganjam district on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Pravat Pradhan, while all the injured are undergoing treatment at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
According to reports, the pickup van carried 20 women from Talabarie village under Banapur police station limits to Kalinjipalli village under the Khallikote police station limits on Wednesday night. After enjoying the wedding feast, they were returning home when the mishap occurred at Beguniapada-Barida main road. The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be known.
In the second incident, 10 passengers were critically injured when the bus they were travelling by collided head-on with a truck at Birsa Munda chhack on National Highway 20 in Odisha’s Keonjar district on early Thursday morning.
All the injured persons have been admitted to the Community Health Centre, Ghatagaon.
According to reports, the bus skidded off the road and overturned after colliding with the truck.
