Nayagarh: One person died while over 10 persons including four police personnel were injured in a group clash during Danda Jatra in Nayagarh town late Wednesday night.
Reportedly, a clash had broken out between the residents of Durgaprasad and Deulapali villages during the Danda Jatra yesterday.
A youth identified as Nabin Parida of Durgaprasad was killed in the clash. As police reached the spot, they were also attacked by the mob.
Inspector-In-Charge of Nayagarh Police Station, Pragnya Paramita Jena, two Sub-Inspectors, and one constable was injured in the attack.
Nayagarh SP Siddharth Kataria said that action against the perpetrators will be taken as per law. Meanwhile, the police force has been deployed in the area and the situation is under control.
