Bhubaneswar: In an unfortunate incident, three friends drowned while bathing in the Brahmani river near Akhandalamani temple in Talcher Town in Angul district on Saturday. One youth was rescued but later declared dead at a local hospital. Two others went missing.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Gochayat. The missing youths are Shakti Sahu and Prince Luhar. All three are from the Talcher station area. According to police, seven friends had gone to bathe in deep water near the temple when three of them drowned.
Local residents alerted authorities after the youths went missing.
The rescued youth, Ganesh Gochayat, was rushed to a nearby hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The Talcher fire brigade has launched rescue operations to trace the two missing youths, Shakti Sahu and Prince Luhar. Search efforts are underway.
