Balasore: One died and one sustained serious injuries when a car belonging to West Bengal MLA Goutam Chowdhury collided with a scooter they were travelling in on National Highway 16 near Jamujhadi in Balasore district of Odisha on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 10:30 am when the MLA’s car, heading towards West Bengal from Puri, hit the scooter as it was crossing the road from the right side to the left. The car was reportedly moving at a high speed, causing significant damage to the scooter. The injured were rushed to Simulia Hospital, where one of them succumbed to injuries.
The impact was severe, causing significant damage to the scooter.
The deceased has been identified as Radhakanta Lenka from Sajanpur in Sora area. The injured person, who is undergoing treatment at Simulia Hospital, is said to be related to the deceased.
However, the MLA and his family members, including five others, narrowly escaped the accident.
Upon being informed, the Simulia police have reached the spot and are investigating the incident. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
