Ganjam: One person died while another sustained critical injuries after the car they were travelling by plunged into a pond in Dharakote in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Himanshu Ranjan Mohapatra, while the injured is Sudhanshu Sahu. Both are employees of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).
According to reports, the accident occurred when the driver of the car lost control on the wheel while they were travelling from Manikyapur from Dharakote this morning and plunged into a roadside pond. The car remained stuck in the pond for a long time till the villagers managed to bring it out with great difficulty and rescue the passengers.
The two victims were rushed to Dharakote Community Health Center (CHC) where the doctors declared Himanshu ‘brought dead’. Sudanshu was shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated further.
