Cuttack: One person died and three others sustained injuries due to explosion of firecrackers at Hrudanga village under Balipatna police limits in Khordha district last night.
According to reports, the explosion occurred at around 9 pm while fireworks were being prepared, destroying two asbestos houses in the process.
The deceased has been identified as Abhinav Kandi, a local fireworks maker.
Meanwhile, locals are pointing fingers at the police administration, alleging that their lax attitude has enabled the illegal fireworks manufacturing industry to thrive in the area, leading to such tragic incidents.
The injured are currently undergoing treatment and their condition is stated to be in a critical condition. The blast has left the village in shock, with many demanding stricter enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
