Balasore: One person died and five have been hospitalised after consuming stale food here today morning. All of them belong to the same family. The incident has been reported from Dadhibamanpur village in Kanheibidha panchayat of Simulia block.
The deceased has been identified as Laxmi Das, an elderly woman, while the sick have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
According to reports, a man had organised a small feast at his house where a bore well was being dug. On Tuesday night, the family consumed the same food which was made during the day and most of them felt uneasy.
Six of the family members were taken to the local hospital where the elderly woman succumbed. Today, as the body of Das was being taken for cremation, a pall of gloom descended on the village. Local administration and police have launched an inquiry into the matter.
